NRL Round 22 Wrap!
Another solid week from the TipBetPro model, with 2 of the 3 recommended bets coming home for a rather tasty 2.95 and 2.85 respectively.
Of course we are talking about the mighty Eels and TBP's favourite team, the Wests Tigers, who have pretty much taken out the title of best team to bet on after the Titans lost (which was the third bet of the week).
Before we get to the Titans, and the bench camera, lets go over our two wins.
The Eels season has been a fiasco by anyone's standards, and yet each week they seem to get the most out of the 17 available to them. An impressive feat. Despite losing points, and both their start of year halves, we still thought they were a chance against the in form Sea Eagles, and so it proved. Bevan French is joining a fairly long list of guns who have announced themselves to the NRL this year. He knows how to score a try, and showed against the Sea Eagles, stopping him is far from easy. The game was a tight affair, with a penalty sealing it. Fair play to Michael Gordon too, as I was poohing my pants when he kicked it, but he put his poor kicking form to the side and nailed it. 2.95 in the bank and the week off to a flier!
The second win was even sweeter if that is possible. The Wests have not been "value" for a few weeks now and we were missing betting on them. They were up against the Cowboys, and without Thurston named, the odds on Tuesday were 2.85. When word got out JT was back, the odds went out to way over 3.00. Despite JT's inclusion our model still rated them a higher chance than the Bookies, and so it proved. A bit like Bevan at the Eels, but slightly more established, the Wests have one of the guns of the game, if not the gun, in JTT (James Teddy Tedesco). He upstaged Thurston and in doing so secured us a rather handy 2.85 (based on published odds on Tuesday - you may have earned some more).
The only blip for the week was the Titans. Now on Tuesday we thought this was the game of the round, thought the Titans were good for the win, but also thought the Warriors could well snatch it. Then there was a small announcement - Foxtel were introducing a bench cam. What for you may ask? Well for the Hayne Plane of course. No matter what you may think, the return of Hayne was huge, and game of the round became game of the year (well from a media perspective). For us, we thought in the short term it would be a distraction the Titans didn't need. Twitter votes were split on his impact. To be fair he played quite well and wasn't the reason for the result. This was mainly due to the Warriors continuing to show the form everyone thought they should have at the start of the year. The Warriors win has set up a grandstand finish for the top 8. And with that in mind look out for our feature article on the Battle for the 8.
So all up a great betting week.
See you next week!
