Break-out! The emerging stars of 2016

This week we are taking a look at those players that have been in the system a while (minimum 30 games) and are enjoying a break-out 2016 season.

Break-out Seasons

So the table above shows that Jason Johannisen is TipBetPro’s number 1 ranked break-out season player … which makes it even more frustrating that he is out for an extended period after tearing his hamstring in Round 4! What about the others – are the four round break-outs sustainable? Will Taylor Adams, Dylan Shiel and Aaron Hall be the next midfield stars of the competition? What about Zach Merrett … is the supplement scandal going to be the making of him as a player? It is getting harder to ignore Max Gawn in the ruck – from the half-way point of last season, the big Melbourne giant looks the most likely challenger to more proven ruck stars such as Todd Goldstein, Aaron Sandilands and Nic Naitanui.

In terms of most unlikely break-out season – well it’s taken over 200 games but Jarrad Waite has enjoyed a blinding start to the season. Waite has been rated by TipBetPro as not just the best forward in the competition but the best player in the competition over the first 4 rounds!

Hope you’ve enjoyed our brief look at the 2016 break-out players - would love to hear your thoughts on whether you think any of the above will go on to establish themselves as the next stars of the game!
