NRL Round 21 Wrap!
A great start to the week and so nearly a great finish (well actually it was a great finish just shared some winnings).
The week started with us tipping the Roosters, languishing near the foot of the table, against everyone's pre season favourites the Broncos. As we detailed in our recommendations, the Broncos are in trouble, and in real danger of missing the 8 let alone the 4. They were missing a couple of their big boys, but still, if alarm bells weren't already ringing they are now. The Roosters on the other hand have started playing a bit of late and again looked pretty good. Shows what having most of your players on the pitch can do, and they look like they'll be back in the hunt next year. But importantly they got our week off to a flyer and they were also BoTW, so happy days.
The next two recommended bets were on the Eels (a long shot) and the Thurston less Cowboys. The Eels were up first against the Tigers and to be honest never really looked like threatening the upset we thought they might. The Tigers did enough when it counted and ran out the second half in relative comfort. They will challenge for a top 8 spot. The Cowboys lost also, and in turn lost their unbeaten home record. Unsurprisingly the difference was their kicking game and composure, both of which are normally done by the peerless Thurston. The Storm were just solid, professional, and to our mind are the team to beat on current form.
Despite the two losses, we also had interest in a 4 leg multi, the first 3 of which (Raiders, Bulldogs and Manly) came in with ease. The final leg was Monday nights game, pairing our favourites the Titans with the favourites, the Sharks. It just shows how far the Titans have come. They were outstanding in pretty much all facets of the game. Indeed yours truly cashed out the multi when the Sharks were 12-0 up. The Titans just looked like they were up for it! And geez weren't they. It was a classic game with the classic golden point finish when hours of practice (we assume they do practice) goes out of the window and everyone starts kicking like my mum (sorry mum, you're probably more likely!). We had posts, charge downs, hooks, pulls and just about everything but a point. And how close were the sharks to a try at the death, with great defending again by the Titans. A draw was a fair result and we hope the Titans get another shot at the Sharks in a few weeks.
So all up not too bad a week and we continue to keep north of 20% on H2Hs and 51% on BoTW.
See you next week!
