NRL Round 20 Wrap

Well what a week and what a turn around.

This week saw us recommend 5 H2H bets and 3 Novelties and it turned out to be rather tasty.

So lets get to it, ignore the Bulldogs rather embarrassing effort, and go straight to our first win of the week. And what a win. We actually thought the Broncos were a higher chance of winning, but just couldn't see how the odds of 4.00 were a fair reflection of an improving and exciting Panthers line up. So we recommended getting on the mighty Panthers and we were not disappointed. They really do look good and have quality across the park (our model struggles a bit with them as a lot of their talent has little experience) so we were pleased to be able to suggest a value bet. At 4.00, this equals our best H2H return for the year and as our bet of the week, gives this a heathy shot in the arm. Whilst the Panthers are one to watch as a bit of a dark horse, what about the Broncos? Their season is imploding a bit and they need to kick back into gear if they want a top 4 spot.

The next game was the Raiders against the Warriors, who everyone seems to see as the "dark horse". We had the Raiders winning this one comfortably and at 22-4 with 10 to play, had already banked our winnings. Then came the classic, team switch off, and the defence fell apart, literally. Thomas Leuluai, realising it was Christmas in July, must have thought Father Christmas had paid him a visit and he'd been a good boy this year. He walked over for two tries and all of a sudden we had Golden Point (or now referred to as Golden Try) again. Not sure of the record for ties, but the Warriors have managed it two weeks in a row, and we were expecting the worst at TBP. But the Raiders awoke from their sleep (too many mince pies at half time?) and their second wind saw a great try for the superstar Croker. He had a pretty good game!

The bets came thick and fast, with the next one off the rank being the Titans, everyone's surprise package for the season. They are looking very solid and it will be interesting to see how the model predicts they do against the Sharks next week. The Titans won convincingly, including covering the line, giving us another H2H win, and the second leg (after the Raiders) in our multi.

We then had two "gimmes" for our third and fourth leg of the multi, with the Storm and Sharks bringing home the 2.83 return. Happy days.

The only blip on Sunday was the Dragons. Again we backed them in as a value bet, hoping that Benji's 250th would help. The Wests however held firm despite "Farah Gate" and once again the Dragons snorted some smoke rather than breathe any fire.

7 from 8 tips and a healthy return. We're glad it's back to full fixtures!

See you next week!
