AFL Round 16 Wrap

It's rounds like this that I like to deflect and point out how well the NRL did this week! Go Sharks!!!

Ah I guess there is no getting out of this AFL review. So the round started great - tipping the Hawks by 22 (exact margin) pleased the tippers and betting on the surprisingly generous odds for the Hawks got the round off to a flyer.

Unfortunately the good times ended there with Geelong killing our multi and head to head bet as they were found out by the hardness of Sydney and our joy from Thursday night was long forgotten after we handed back all our winnings plus some on Friday night. Things went from bad to worse on Saturday after any hope of money back on the multi was killed as GWS ran into a Collingwood line-up that resembled more what we expected at the start of the season with an exciting performance to upset the Giants.

That was the last of the tips we got wrong and tipping followers would still be pleased with 7 from 9 and a perfect first game margin. That wasn't such a great thing from a betting perspective though as we liked the chances of Freo at long odds with their 45% probability of victory enough to make them our Bet of The Week. It was a Bet of The Week that never looked likely as a dominant Melbourne midfield blew the Dockers away in the first quarter and never looked like letting Freo back in the match consigning us to a 5th week without a Bet of The Week winner (after 6 consecutive wins ... who would have thought momentum in betting could be such a thing!).

So not a great round and we are only just hanging onto a positive head to head record for the season ... so once again ... a good season to start NRL!!!
