AFL Squad Analysis - Eagles at their prime
West Coast have the perfect squad balance to go one step better than 2015 with a remarkable 20 Eagles rated by TipBetPro in the prime of their career and just one (Brownlow Medallist Matthew Priddis) expected to decline in 2016.
Fremantle, Richmond and Port Adelaide are the best of the rest with respect to squad balance whilst three-peat premiers Hawthon retain a strong core of their squad in the prime of the career even with four veterans and following the departure of three premiership players at the end of 2015.
North Melbourne boast the most experienced squad in the AFL in 2016 but with a league high six players expected to decline in 2016, they do not fare as strong as the likes of West Coast on the TipBetPro optimal experience measure.
Brisbane, Adelaide, St Kilda, GWS and (somewhat surprisingly) Sydney have the most number of developing players in 2016 which may be good for the future but is not typically a great sign for the current season. As a result, TipBetPro are pessimistic about the prospects of 2015 finalists Adelaide and Sydney in the 2016 season.
